New in the 2011 Edition:

The World Game Cup village is expanding, with a real arcade zone, a casual play section and a press section.

In the same spirit, the three stages will host various shows:

The «*Main Stage*» for the final stages of the console competitions and the World Team Cup.
The «*Round Stage*» to ensure everyone gets to see the best of the qualification phases of the console tournaments.
The «*Arcade Stage*» for the new arcade tournaments!

General Rules & Regulations

After many heated discussions, we finally decided to follow the general opinion trend (and the public opinion through the poll you might have seen).

We hesitated a lot with an "updated" version of the EVO rules, but stayed faithful to our French Tradition in the end!

The rules below only apply to the console tournaments (WORLD TEAM CUP tournaments excluded as we already stated in the corresponding sections). The rules & regulations of the arcade tournaments will be announced later this week.

SOLO CONSOLE TOURNAMENTS FORMAT:

For the solo tourneys, the qualifier phase will be played in POOLS, just like last year. It will be pools of 4 or 8 players, according to the size of the tournament:

- Tournament of 32 players: 8 pools of 4 players - 2/3 matches per set - 2 qualifiers per pool.
- Tournament of 64 players: 8 pools of 8 players - 1 match per set - 4 qualifiers per pool.
- Tournament of 128 players: 16 pools of 8 players - 1 match per set - 2 qualifiers per pool.
- Tournament of 256 players: 32 pools of 8 players - 1 match per set - 2 qualifiers per pool.

For each tournament, the exact number of pools & players will be announced at the end of January, when the final number of registered players will be known.

All the qualifier phases of the solo tournaments will be played with double elimination rules:

- 2/3 matches per set until the finals (played in 3/5 sets)

CONSOLE TOURNAMENTS FORMAT FOR THE MASTER SERIES:

- Tournament of MAXIMUM 128 players - Single elimination with sets of 2/3 matches - Finals played in 3/5 sets.
General Rules for the team tournaments of the Main Event:

Team tournaments are played with the "Team Battle Relay" rules:

- Single elimination team sets, during the whole tournament.

- Opened to all teams (teams can mix nationalities)
- 3 players per team
- Before each bout, the two captains play a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors:
>>> The LOSING captain must announce his/her first player. The WINNING captain can then choose who he/she wants to face him/her.
>>> After that the winner of the match stays, and the loser's team can choose who they want to face him/her, and so on...

TEAM CONSOLE TOURNAMENTS FORMAT:

All of Friday's team tourneys will follow the same rules & regulations:

Team tournaments are played with the "Team Battle Relay" rules:

- Single elimination team sets, during the whole tournament.

- Opened to all teams (teams can mix nationalities)
- 3 players per team
- Before each bout, the two captains play a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors:
>>> The LOSING captain must announce his/her first player. The WINNING captain can then choose who he/she wants to face him/her.
>>> After that the winner of the match stays, and the loser's team can choose who they want to face him/her, and so on...

ADDENDUM:

As all registrations will now be made Online, the tournaments will begin earlier in the morning (don't be late!).
As a result, the pools will be drawn in early February (with seeded players).
This draw will affect all the console tournaments : Solo, Team, Master Series and World Team Cup events.

The draw of The World Game Cup tournaments will be filmed & available as an Online Stream on the Website.

Consequently, players will be able to check their pools and competitors (& their characters) before the tournaments!

------

Be advised that for all these tournaments, you must come with your own accessories (adapters included). The organization simply won't be able to lend pads, adapters and/or sticks.
The WGC is a BYOC event! (bring your own controller, be it a pad or a stick)
You will of course be allowed to borrow accessories from other players, but it mustn't be a bother or holdup the competition (as you might get disqualified if that's the case).

All game controllers allowing macros/cheats are strictly forbidden, as are the activation of turbo/automatic modes on any allowed controller.

------

NEW THIS YEAR

1/The Casual Play Area will be built around 8 to 16 screens. It will be co-run by the SWGA and Games Culture Associations. There, you'll be able to play all the games in competition in the Console Tournaments & some of the games played in the Arcade Tournaments (if a XBOX 360 version exists at the time of the event, like KOF2002 UM, for instance). But you will also find a few neat surprises in the consoles hard drives like MOTW or SSF2 HD REMIX (and more...).
Casual tournaments will be organized throughout the day. These Casual (free) tournaments will spice up your days.

Please don't hesitate to come & visit the Casual Area!

We'd like to thank the SWGA and Games Culture Associations for their support on this year's edition.

2/ Watch the Steam: basgrospoing.fr, the famous fighting games news website will be our partner for the WGC2011. Thanks to them, you'll have access to a continuous flow of fresh news (results, reports, etc.).
What's more, the BGP Team will hug the mike on the stream, spilling a moist flow of fresh editorial nuggets and atmospheric comments, LIVE from the WGC grounds.
And don't forget, the Stream will run non-stop during the three days of competition thanks to the fine people of the GNOUZ CORP!

3/ A Guest of Honor for the World Game Cup 2011
After a 2010 edition dedicated to Capcom fans*, with the presence of star players Daigo, Eïta, Fuudo & Desora, in 2011 it will be Arc System's devotees turn to nerdgasm. Coming for the very fist time in France, Toshimichi Mori from the famous Arc System Works studio will grace us with his presence!
Mr. Mori is the General Director / Producer / Character Designer of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. He will answer fan questions, present BlazBlue: Continuum Shift in detail, and will also attend an exclusive signing session. And the whole thing will be streamed LIVE!

Many thanks to our partner TRADEWEST (The French Publisher of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift) for organizing this prestigious event!

W SyFa sie gra na stickach, nie myle sie?
"People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define "reality". But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true"? Merely vague concepts… their "reality" may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?"
